Procedure for registration of foreign citizens and stateless persons

Foreign citizens and stateless persons are obliged to register within 10 working days from the date of their entry into the Republic of Tajikistan in accordance with the established procedure at the bodies of internal affairs or foreign affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan (only for employees of diplomatic missions), with the exception of citizens of countries that based on relevant agreements, they are exempt from registration for certain periods.

ATTENTION: Foreign citizens and stateless persons who stay in the country for no more than 10 working days from the date of entry to the Republic of Tajikistan and leave during this period do not have to register.

Organizations and receiving persons who have invited foreign citizens and stateless persons to the Republic of Tajikistan, as well as persons in whose homes foreign citizens and stateless persons live, are obliged to register them within 10 working days from the day of their arrival in the internal affairs authorities of the place of residence or foreign affairs authorities, except for weekends and holidays, unless otherwise provided by the legislation of the Republic of Tajikistan and international agreements recognized by the Republic of Tajikistan.
Registration of foreign citizens who have entered the Republic of Tajikistan without a visa is carried out for the necessary period, not longer than the period established by the international agreements recognized by the Republic of Tajikistan and the validity period of foreign passports, but not more than 1 year.

When foreign citizens and stateless persons who come for private business change their place of residence, they are obliged to personally notify the internal affairs authorities about the change of place of residence within 5 days for their re-registration at the new place of residence. In the event that foreign citizens and stateless persons arrived at the invitation of the receiving organizations and were registered with the internal affairs authorities or foreign affairs authorities, such foreign citizens and stateless persons inform the receiving organization about the change of their place of residence within 3 days. , who in turn notify the internal affairs authorities or the foreign affairs authorities in writing within 2 days.
In accordance with Articles 33 and 34 of the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan "On the Legal Status of Foreign Citizens and Stateless Persons in the Republic of Tajikistan", these rules apply to the privileges and immunities of leaders and employees of diplomatic missions, consulates and foreign citizens equivalent to them, as well as their family members The Republic of Tajikistan and international treaties recognized by the Republic of Tajikistan shall not interfere.
Foreign citizens and stateless persons temporarily residing in the territory of the Republic of Tajikistan are obliged to carry with them a foreign passport registered in accordance with the procedure established by these Rules and to present it at the request of representatives of authorized bodies.

Foreign passports of the following persons are registered in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan:
- heads of foreign diplomatic missions and consular institutions, members of the diplomatic staff, consular officials, administrative and technical staff of diplomatic missions and consular institutions, employees of the military council and trade missions with their spouses, children, parents, dependents, as well as guests of the heads of missions foreign diplomatic and consular institutions, if these guests live in their residence or in the territory of the said missions and institutions;
- employees of the foreign affairs offices of foreign countries who came to the Republic of Tajikistan on business, have diplomatic or service passports, and their family members;
- officials of international organizations, employees of the representative offices of these organizations in the Republic of Tajikistan, who came to the Republic of Tajikistan on business, as well as employees of the representative offices of countries in international organizations, which have their headquarters in the Republic of Tajikistan, are entitled to diplomatic privileges according to the charter documents of the mentioned organizations or relevant international agreements. use, as well as their family members;
- foreign journalists and their family members accredited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan.
Forms are issued by the foreign affairs authorities to the following persons: ambassador - A; diplomatic - D; service - S; honorary consul - NS; Accreditation - O or that in their foreign passport is recorded directly on registration. The persons listed in this paragraph are exempted from the registration of foreign passports in the internal affairs authorities.
