Apply for an electronic visa (e-Visa)

On 1 June 2016 the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan introduced, for the first time in the CIS, an electronic system for issuing visas to citizens of 126 countries. The new system simplifies the procedure for obtaining a visa of the Republic of Tajikistan and is a further step in providing electronic public services.

Foreign citizens who hold an electronic visa are exempt from registration with the internal-affairs authorities of the Republic of Tajikistan.

How to obtain an electronic visa

  • The electronic visa is approved and issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan in electronic form. A foreign citizen or stateless person must complete the electronic form on www.evisa.tj and submit the request electronically. The request is checked automatically and is not considered until payment is made through international electronic payment systems. After a positive decision, the electronic visa (A4 format) is sent to the applicant’s e-mail. The applicant must print the visa and keep it with their travel document.

  • Consular fees for considering electronic-visa applications are paid through international electronic payments such as Visa, MasterCard, American Express and UnionPay.

Document requirements for an electronic visa

  • The data and the electronic copy of the passport or other document submitted by the foreign citizen or stateless person must be authentic beyond doubt.

  • The document should, as a rule, remain valid for at least 6 months.

  • The attached file must be JPEG (not PDF) and no larger than 1 MB. The system will not accept a larger file.

Where is the stamp allowing entry to border areas of the Republic of Tajikistan placed?

Permission to enter special border areas is placed on the electronic-visa form. To obtain that permission the applicant must select the relevant item when completing the electronic-visa form.

Validity of the electronic visa

The electronic visa is valid for 90 days, but the holder may stay in the country for no more than 60 calendar days.

Can an electronic visa be extended?

The validity of an electronic visa is not extended.
