Service passport

Service Passport

A service passport is issued to civil servants and their family members by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan and diplomatic missions of the Republic of Tajikistan in cases stipulated by the “Rules of Registration and Issue of the Foreign Passports Containing Electronic Media of Information and Certificate on Return to the Republic of Tajikistan to Citizens of the Republic of Tajikistan”, approved by the Resolution of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan dated May 27, 2020, No. 294.

A service passport is issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and diplomatic missions of the Republic of Tajikistan on the basis of the following documents:

  • Order of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan on official foreign trips.

  • Letter from the Head of the Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan and his First Deputy, written request from the leadership of ministries and departments, chairpersons of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region, regions, the city of Dushanbe, and other state organizations and legal entities, regardless of the form of ownership.

  • Written statements of employees of the central office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan and diplomatic missions of the Republic of Tajikistan, as well as members of their families.

  • Passport of a citizen of the Republic of Tajikistan.

  • Birth certificate for citizens under the age of 16.

  • Receipt for payment of consular fees, with the exception of citizens exempted from paying the fee in accordance with the regulatory legal acts of the Republic of Tajikistan.

  • Copy of the service certificate or certificate from the place of work on the position held by the civil servant.

Written requests of individuals and legal entities of the Republic of Tajikistan for the issuance of service passports are considered within 15 working days.

For urgent consideration of applications from individuals and legal entities, the amount of the fee is increased by the following percentages:

  • Within 3 working days by 200%.

  • Within 7 working days by 100%.

According to the legislation of the country, the fee for a service passport is set at 100 US dollars (calculated in Somoni on the day of payment at the exchange rate of the National Bank).

Service passports are used for official purposes. For a private trip, a civil servant with a diplomatic or service passport applies to the authorized state bodies for issuing foreign passports to obtain an ordinary passport in the prescribed manner.

A service passport is issued for a period of 5 years.

A service passport is issued to the following persons in accordance with Annex 1 to the “Rules of Registration and Issue of the Foreign Passports Containing Electronic Media of Information and Certificate on Return to the Republic of Tajikistan to Citizens of the Republic of Tajikistan”, approved by the Resolution of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan dated May 27, 2020 No. 294:

  • Deputy heads of bodies and agencies under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.

  • Deputy Press Secretary-Head of the Press Service of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, chief and leading specialists of the office of the Assistant to the President of the Republic of Tajikistan for Foreign Relations, chief and leading specialists of the Department of Foreign Relations of the Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan.

  • Rectors of universities and institutes.

  • General officers in service.

  • Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions.

  • Administrative staff of diplomatic missions of the Republic of Tajikistan and members of their families only in the case of long-term foreign trips related to their work activities and civil servants of the central office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan holding the position of specialist.

Note: Service passports are issued only in accordance with the above list. Equalization and alignment of positions to obtain the above passports is prohibited.
